Dr. Joe is Director of the The Nasal & Sinus Center and Co-Director of the Skull Base Program at UIC.

Dr. Stephanie A. Joe is board-certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has practiced otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat surgery) since 1997. Her education started in Houston Texas at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where she attending medical school and completed residency training. She has a unique educational and training background having undertaken fellowship training in two subspecialties of otolaryngology. Her subspecialty training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery took place in Baltimore, Maryland at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions under the direction of Drs. John Frodel and Ira Papel. With this training, she performs surgery addressing anatomic nasal problems to improve nasal breathing, including septal deviation, nasal deformities and nasal fractures. She completed Rhinology and Sinus Surgery fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Otorhinolaryngology under the direction of Drs. David Kennedy and William Bolger. This specialty deals with nasal and sinus disorders including nasal congestion, postnasal drip, allergies and rhinosinusitis. This background allows her to fully address your nasal and sinus complaints inside and out!

Dr. Joe provides complete care for your nasal and sinus problems. The sinus and nasal center uses advanced techniques to formulate your diagnosis. We then discuss our findings with you and develop an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs.

Meet Kathy Reidy

Ms. Kathy Reidy has been in the Department of Otolaryngology for 20 years. She serves as an administrative assistant to Dr. Joe. New or returning patients should call her for an appointment. Kathy will direct you to the all areas needed for an appointment.




Meet Juanita Perez, MA

Juanita Perez MA Chicago Illinois

Ms. Juanita Perez coordinates care for all of Dr. Joe’s patients and is the primary contact for her practice. She has worked in healthcare for over 25 years and exclusively in Otolaryngology for over 12 years. She came to us in 2006 and is a vital member of the team. She is experienced in the care of patients with rhinology, allergy, and head and neck problems. Juanita is currently working towards her nursing degree.

Meet Kathleen Sliter, RN

Kathleen Sliter RN at Sinus and Nasal Allergy CenterMs. Kathleen Sliter oversees the allergy practice and has been its primary nurse since the inception of the Sinus & Nasal Allergy Center in 2003. She attends national allergy meetings on an annual basis. Kathleen is versed in prick testing, intradermal testing, subcutaneous immunotherapy, sublingual immunotherapy, and environmental controls for inhalant allergens.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University and has a Master of Arts in Adminstrative Leadership from Lewis University. She has practiced nursing in the University of Illinois at Chicago system for over 29 years and has received 3 Excellence in Nursing awards.
The basis of Kathleen’s work philosophy is providing quality patient care – whether it relates to her directorship role or to personal patient phone calls. She can be found working tirelessly throughout the day and sometimes long into the evening toward this effort. Her attention to detail and conscientious nature in all aspects of her work is appreciated by her patients and all who work with her. Above all, she always has a smile and positive attitude no matter how hard or demanding the workload.
